The Repower Intern will assist the repower team with preparing existing wind energy projects to be repowered, either partially through the replacement of original components with new ones (component repower) or the replacement of the original wind turbines with new ones (brownfield repower).
Areas the Repower Intern can expect to assist in include the following:
Understand the fundamentals of wind, solar, energy storage, and hydrogen technologies with a willingness to learn daily.
Identify project drivers, constraints, and degrees of freedom, including, but not limited to, schedules, budgets, permitting, equipment, energy markets, and project finance.
Gain exposure and understand essential aspects of project management, real estate, permitting, interconnection process, environmental studies, engineering, procurement, project finance, and construction.
The Repower Intern will collaborate and build relationships with RWE colleagues to support the day-to-day management of the portfolio of repower assets. This will entail executing regularly scheduled activities such as land ownership research, assisting with land lease activities, coordinating landowner communication efforts, assisting with project budgets and schedules, including SalesForce, and coordinating internal and external support. In addition to these duties, [Title] will identify opportunities and ways to improve processes and enhance team efficiencies. Finally, [Title] will demonstrate initiative to advance in the organization and exhibit intellectual curiosity and self-directed learning.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate with PM’s and assist with entering information into Salesforce, SAP, and AltAmps, as applicable
Perform land ownership research
Coordinate with the repower, legal, and lease & title team(s) to obtain all due diligence materials required to draft or process lease agreements, terminations, partial releases, extensions, non-obstruction easements, amendments, and assignments as necessary
Coordinate landowner communication and correspondence efforts
Support procurement of local, state, and federal permits
Assist with project budget and scheduling, including coordinating internal and external support
Assist with the preparation of due diligence materials for project financing
Handle special projects and the implementation of AI systems and assist the repower team as needed
Qualifications:
Enrolled in a curriculum leading to a baccalaureate or advanced degree from an accredited college or university program in the following: engineering, environmental science, energy, economics, business, or related field
GPA requirement: 3.00 or higher
Be a rising junior, senior, or graduate student, PMP or MBA is a plus
Budgeting, forecasting, energy industry research, familiarization with AI programs, and team building are highly desirable
Software knowledge: MS Suite, Salesforce, and ArcGIS are highly desirable
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage internal and external relationships
Demonstrated interest and passion for renewable energy, and desire to learn about the Company and the renewable energy industry
Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
Maintains information confidentiality and handles with the utmost discretion
Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
Embraces change and challenges with optimism and solutions
This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations
Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
This is a part-time 12-week spring internship starting in January.
