Job Description:
As a Principal Engineer in Customer Technology, you are a thought leader and trusted partner of technology and product teams, defining solutions to highly complex and often abstract business and technology problems. You will solve challenges impacting multiple lines of business and technologies, often within capabilities critical to McDonald's success. You will define engineering strategies to deliver new or evolving business and technology capabilities and align partners to those strategies. You will also lead the engineering design and delivery of solutions that evolve Customer Tech products in the McDonald’s Global Mobile App and Marketing technologies.

Understand McDonald's business and technical environments and assist teams in resolving complex business challenges via technical solutions.
Collaborate with technical staff and Architecture teams in setting technical direction across platforms.
Drive technology lifecycle management and communicate standards/decisions to engineering teams.
Lead the engineering design and hands-on building of iOS and Android applications and cloud services, with a deep focus on both functional & non-functional requirements, including scalability, availability, and performance.
Work with engineering leaders to build high-performing engineering teams, providing technical leadership, coaching, motivation, and participating in the selection of technical talent.
Be a strong advocate of agile and DevOps practices, encouraging a culture of extreme agility with engineers.
Assess viability, applicability, and cost implications through POCs and prototypes.

The expected salary range for this role is $168,350 - $218,860 per year

Qualifications:
4-year degree or equivalent experience. Continuing education to maintain thorough knowledge of technical domains and staying current with the latest technologies.
12+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on Mobile app development
4+ years of experience in strategic planning and setting technical direction.
Has demonstrated success in solving complex technical problems across multiple technical or functional areas.
Proven experience leading the design and delivery of enterprise-scale solutions within a large enterprise, where solutions span multiple lines of business.
Engineering & Technology:
Proven experience defining technology strategy for a line of business or enterprise technology capability and driving the delivery of resulting solutions.
Demonstrated experience building solutions with microservices and event-based architecture using JVM-based languages (Java, Kotlin, etc.).
Strong experience in mobile application development on both iOS and Android platforms, including mobile-specific technologies and frameworks like Swift, SwiftUI/UIKit, Kotlin/Android Java, and Jetpack Compose.
Experience with a broad tech stack, frameworks, databases, and tools such as Spring Boot, Micronaut, .net, MongoDB, Postgres, Elastic Search, Kafka, ReactJS, and Cloud technologies.
Leadership:
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to convey complex technical solutions clearly to the organization.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others.
A strong team player who thrives in collaborative environments.
Proven ability to foster collaboration across teams, breaking down silos and ensuring alignment on technical goals and delivery.
