Robert Half is seeking a Real Estate Tax Paralegal for one of our dynamic clients in Chicago, Illinois! This role involves a comprehensive understanding of property tax laws, the ability to analyse financial documentation, and the capacity to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders. The Paralegal will also be expected to work closely with in-house attorneys and coordinate with property appraisers and county property tax officials.

Responsibilities of this role include but are not liminted to:

• Analyzing financial documentation such as income and expense statements, Federal Tax Returns, property surveys, and leases to create effective appeal strategies.

• Processing property tax appeals for a variety of properties including office buildings, shopping centers, industrial warehouses and residential dwellings.

• Extensive communication with clients to gather necessary documentation for the real estate appeal process. This may include telephone, e-mail, and regular US Mail communication.

• Answering questions and providing clarification for attorneys, property owners/managers regarding the property appeal process.

• Coordinating with property appraisers and county property tax officials at different stages of the real estate tax appeal process on behalf of clients.

• Collaborating closely with in-house attorneys for case development and addressing client concerns.

• Ensuring all tasks are completed with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality.

• Working within a deadline-driven environment and collaborating with the team to meet all deadlines, which may occasionally require overtime hours.

Requirements

• Applicant must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Paralegal role.

• In-depth knowledge of Property Tax is a mandatory requirement for this role.

• Proven track record of handling legal documentation and court filings efficiently.

• Strong research skills to gather and analyze legal data.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for liaising with clients and attorneys.

• Should be proficient in the use of legal research software and other related tools.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold legal ethics.

• Must possess a high degree of professionalism and responsibility.

• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related field is required.

• Certification from an ABA-approved paralegal certification program is preferred.

• Familiarity with the local, state, and federal court systems and procedures is a plus.
