Job Title:Lead Transportation Planner

Location:30 N LaSalle St, Ste 4200, Chicago, IL 60602

Duties:Manage consultant project design team to complete an inclusive community involvement process and engineering contract documents. Monitor project schedules and budgets per the direction of CDOT management. Review compliance with the program including, but not limited to, the Streetscape Guidelines, Streetscape Project Checklist, ADA Standards, Street & Site Plan Design Standards, AASHTO, MUTCD, the Public Way Construction Regulations, IDOT BDE, and IDOT BLRS. Prepare presentations for individual projects or overall program accomplishments for a wide variety of audiences, including internal stakeholders, partner agencies and public presentations. Under CDOT direction prepare grant and or award applications for streetscape program projects. Attend weekly construction management meetings to ensure community and project design intent is met. Perform civil and structural reviews (as needed) for all project plan submissions and review traffic related work when requested. Maintain program plan submittal checklist to ensure adequate information is provided in each plan set. Support the maintenance of standard CDOT Streetscape and Sustainable Design Program specifications. Coordinate with other CDOT Divisions and/or partner departments, sister agencies or other parties to ensure that projects are properly reviewed and coordinated.

Requirements:Master\'s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Sustainable Urban Development, Urban Planning, or related field plus three (3) years\' experience as a Transportation Planner, Development/Zoning Planner, or related role. Employer will accept a bachelor\'s degree (or foreign equivalent) and five (5) years\' experience in lieu of a master\'s degree and three (3) years\' experience. Must have experience in: managing DOT Streetscape improvement projects by directing consultant design team, performing reviews, and coordinating peer reviews of the project to ensure compliance with determined scope, schedule, budget, and guidelines, standards, or technical requirements of streetscape design, traffic safety, and bicycle infrastructure; preparing presentations for community engagement, meetings with public officials, and coordination with other agencies and departments; reviewing zoning requests for development proposals, managing the community involvement process and coordinating with necessary government officials as required for the approval procedures; and developing project scope based on client budget and design landscape/architecture projects producing technical drawings and specifications using AutoCAD software.
