Qualifications

We're seeking a Lead DLP Engineer to help lead the design, deployment, and management of our data loss prevention (DLP) solution. Collaborating closely with Security, Networking, Infrastructure, GRC, and various other business teams, you'll ensure our DLP solution meets security standards, compliance requirements, and business goals.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include proactive incident response, policy and process enhancement, and rule troubleshooting and optimization within various DLP policies and tools. Data protection is an organization-wide effort, so effective collaboration clear communication skills are crucial. We're looking for a dynamic individual with a creative passion for safeguarding data and professional advancement to join our awesome team.

Responsibilities:

DLP Tool Deployment and Implementation

  • Help to design and deploy a robust DLP solution that includes the use of endpoint DLP, network DLP, and cloud DLP to protect data at rest, data in motion, and data in use across various platforms and channels.

  • Configure DLP policies, rules, and alerts based on the data classification and risk assessment to align with best practices, specific organizational needs, and compliance requirements.

  • Ensure successful integration and interoperability between DLP tools and other tools and systems within our computing environments.

  • Quickly respond to and mitigate technical issues that arise during deployment to minimize negative business impacts and interruptions.

  • Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve technical issues.

  • Develop ad-hoc solutions to address unique challenges faced by a wide variety of business units and their specific operating requirements.

Ongoing Program Management & Refinement

  • Review DLP controls for their effectiveness to help balance security with user experience and business enablement based on received feedback.

  • Perform tuning and optimization for DLP policies, detection rules, and other configurations to help improve detection rates while limiting false positives.

  • Stay up to date on new DLP technologies and security standards to provide recommendations for improvement and innovation based on industry trends and best practices.

  • Continuously monitor DLP alerts and reports to identify trends, assess risks, and implement program enhancements to proactively address potential vectors for data loss.

  • Monitor alerts to investigate, manage, and resolve DLP incidents. Identify and implement corrective actions based on investigative findings to prevent future incidents.

  • Review and effectively communicate and escalate the findings of any DLP related security investigations to appropriate stakeholders.

  • Help to troubleshoot and address DLP-related issues, including modifying controls and managing exceptions.

Broad Organizational Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with incident response teams to identify, contain, and eradicate security threats in a timely manner. Be available for the team during critical incidents and investigations.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering and helpdesk teams to identify and troubleshoot issues with deployment and configurations.

  • Conduct postural and risk assessments of various systems and collaborate with owners to strengthen overall security posture.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on DLP related issues and best practices while participating in wider security group meetings to effectively administer robust and layered security controls.

  • Enable business units by providing expertise and guidance to individuals and teams while designing comprehensive solutions to meet specific DLP related requirements on projects.

Support Governance and Compliance Efforts

  • Help to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOX, ISO/IEC) by configuring DLP policies and controls to align with requirements.

  • Help to conduct and participate in DLP audits, assessments, and reports to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and certification standards.

  • Help to develop training and awareness materials to educate employees on DLP best practices, data handling procedures, and security policies.

  • Help to maintain and update security operations policy and procedure documentation including runbooks for the DLP tools and technologies.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of DLP configurations, policies, and procedures.

  • Generate regular metric reports on DLP performance, risks, incident trends, and compliance status for leadership review and decision-making.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field.

  • Good understanding of, and ability to troubleshoot within operating systems environments such as Windows, MacOS, and Linux.

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, network protocols, and network security devices, including but not limited to firewalls, proxies, and web gateways.

  • Strong understanding of file types, extensions, encryption, data masking, and other data protection concepts.

  • Strong knowledge of DLP technologies and methodologies, including the use of endpoint DLP, network DLP, and cloud DLP.

  • Experience in implementing, administering, and managing SASE, SSE, SWG, CASB and/or DLP solutions.

  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to DLP tools.

  • Experience in creating, managing, testing, and tuning DLP detection rules and policies.

  • Experience in DLP incident response, including monitoring, investigating, and resolving alerts and incidents.

  • Understanding of DLP security operation metrics reporting and KRI/KPI evaluations.

  • Ability to collect and present security metrics to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Effective communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders across different departments.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify security risks.

Preferred:

  • ISC2, SANS, Offensive security, TCM Security, ISACA, or other industry-recognized security certifications.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and customization of DLP workflows.

  • Familiarity with data classification and regulatory requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOX, and industry standards like ISO/IEC 27001, NIST and CMMC Cybersecurity Frameworks.

  • Flexible living locations (US)

  • Possible travel 1-2 times/ yearly

The estimated base salary for this job is $95,000 - $130,000. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron’s pay for performance philosophy. Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $106,400 - $153,400. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron’s benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
