With a mission to attract eligible young people, teach them the skills they need to become employable and independent and place them in meaningful jobs or further education, the program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals since 1964.

Position Summary

The Center Mental Health Consultant reports to the Health and Wellness Manager. Develops, implements, and monitors the Mental Health Program, including staff development, mental health counseling of students, and TEAP program counseling, according to the Job Corps federal regulations and the Policy and Requirements Handbook. Demonstrates ongoing commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring, and monitoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards of workplace relations and ethics; information management; communications; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills; and independent living.

Position Functions

Demonstrates and abides by Aleut Core Values and operating principles.

Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the center\'s Mental Health Program, including supervising all mental health interns and employees.

Advises the Center Director and Health Services staff on all mental health matters.

Conducts staff development and training in using mental health principles and techniques.

Develops, schedules, and documents weekly staff training as required by Job Corps regulation and the PRH.

Consults and promotes the coordination and integration of mental health with other center programs and activities.

Provides consultation with Health Services staff and all other appropriate staff concerning student mental health issues.

Develop constructive programs for meeting students\' mental health issues and work with center disciplinary, maximum benefits, intergroup relations, and the AODA prevention programs.
