Description

Robert Half's Legal Division is immedately seeking a Family Law Attorney for one of our dynamic clients in the Chicago Loop. The ideal candidate would have previous family law experience (our client is open to any level!) and be comfortable working mostly in office.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Client Consultations: Meet with clients to discuss their family law issues, assess their needs, and provide legal advice and guidance.

  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research to support case strategies, draft legal documents, and stay up-to-date with changes in family law regulations.

  • Case Management: Manage a caseload of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division matters.

  • Court Representation: Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, mediation, and trials, and advocate effectively on their behalf.

  • Negotiation: Negotiate settlements and agreements with opposing parties to achieve favorable outcomes for clients, including participation in mediation and settlement conferences.

  • Document Preparation: Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.

  • Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates on case progress and address their concerns.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff to ensure the successful handling of cases.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all ethical standards and legal regulations in the practice of family law.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar (or ability to waive in).

  • 1-10 years of experience in family law, including internships or clerkships.

  • Strong research and legal writing skills.

  • Excellent communication and writing abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to client needs.

  • Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and ethical standards.
