Summary:

The Public Finance Analyst performs debt profile analysis and modeling related to clients and prospects of the Public Finance group. Analysis is often performed using DBC software or Excel, although other analytics such as Bloomberg, TM3 or proprietary models are employed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares pitch books and other marketing materials used in client and prospect interaction.

  • Stays up to date on the economic environment and utilizes that information to populate charts, graphs and other analytics for the benefit of our clients and the greater Public Finance Department.

  • Follows compliance policies and procedures related to the Public Finance business including the creation and maintenance of client and transaction files.

  • Communicates with internal legal and compliance partners to constantly evaluate processes for efficiency.

  • Stays up to date on new regulations and completes continuing education and compliance exams in a timely manner.

  • Interacts directly with internal and external clients and partners.

  • Internal client communication includes marketing to commercial bankers in Government, Healthcare, Corporate and Real Estate. External clients include State and local governments, Higher Education, Healthcare, Public Power, Developers and other issuer clients.

  • Partners include legal counsel, financial advisors, accountants and others related to the Public Finance business.

  • Works independently on the largest and most complex financings.

  • Advises state and local government officials on financing strategies, prepares new business proposals and comprehensive financial plans.

  • Provides Public Finance transaction management, including financial structuring, financial analysis, schedules issue sales and handles details from origination through closing of large and complex bond and/or note sales. Participates in the development of new financial services to meet the needs of public finance clients.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 1+ years’ direct experience in Public Finance investment banking or municipal advisory

  • Series 7, 52, 63 or other necessary combination

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in all aspects of DBC and ability to generate RFP responses from start to finish including plan of finance

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels.

  • Progressive thinker and problem solver, with a strong ability to manage ambiguity/complexity.

  • Work effectively in teams as well as independently across multiple tasks while meeting aggressive timelines.

  • Ability to embrace change, constructively negotiate constraints, and effectively leverage resources to create exceptional outcomes.

  • Consistently model and inspire high levels of professional demeanor and integrity.
