JOB TITLE:                 Summer Rec Camp Leader

CLASSIFICATION:    Non-Exempt -- Part Time

DEPARTMENT:        CRE/Recreation 

SUPERVISOR:          Recreation Coordinator

SALARY:                    $13.00 to $15.00 Per Hour

 

*GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION                                                                                                 *

 

To provide supervision for participants, grades Kindergarten to sixth grade daily. Summer Rec Camp Leaders will be required to interact with participants during program activities, field trips, and assist children in creating crafts. Applicant should be outgoing, patient, creative, and have an enjoyment for children. Summer Rec Camp Leaders will be required to work between 28/40-hour weeks during the 10.5-week program.

 

*PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                             *

  • Coordinate, provide support, and lead for daily activities for the program participants.
  • Actively participate in daily activities and games as well as assist with crafts.
  • Aid with program participants while learning new skills such as swimming, roller skating,             and bowling.
  • Communicate clearly and in an appropriate manner with participants, co-workers, and    parents.
  • Enforce a variety of program rules, maintain discipline, and report any behavioral issues  to the supervisor.

     

     

  • Works effectively with program leaders, participants, and management.

  • Ability to react and respond in a calm and positive manner to unexpected situations or    occurrences.
  • Address public inquiries about the Summer Rec Camp Program in a courteous manner.
  • Maintain a calendar of activities, meetings and various events assigned.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Respond to requests and inquiries from the public.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.

     

*QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB                                                                               *

 

Required:*

  • High school student, age fifteen (15) at time of applying.
  • First aid and CPR certification or obtain one through the program before the first day of camp.

     

*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS                                                                                         *

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 30 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.

 

Working Environment:

Both indoor and outdoor environment; irregular working hours, including one weekend.
