Randstad has an immediate position for a Biologist to work with Plant Transformation Production Team. As the selected candidate you support our client's R&D pipeline by supplying transgenic crops for testing. You will perform plant tissue culture tasks, including inoculation with bacteria, sterile tissue transfer, and transfer of plants to soil. A desire to work and take initiative within a team environment is essential.

salary: $24 - $27 per hour

shift: First

work hours: 8 AM - 4:30 PM

education: Bachelors

Responsibilities

Plant Tissue Culture: Moving plant material from agar gel to agar gel, moving plant material to soil; taking samples of plant material for genetic analysis.

Seed preparation and Inoculation: Inoculating prepared seed with gene of interest. Experimental clean up and set up.

Experimental Monitoring: Reporting on performance of tissue culture experiments. Effective communications and recording of observations.

Lab Maintenance and Inventory: Preparing lab space for daily duties. Performing weekly lab/biotech cleaning tasks.

Data Entry: Use of our in house data management system for entering experimental information. Use of quality system to record observations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, cellular biology, biotechnology or related field is required with 1 year of lab related research experience.

• Tissue culture and plant production experience.

• Basic Sterile Technique etiquette.

• Experience in fast paced environment.

• LIMS experience is a plus.
