GAF's Manufacturing facility in Chester is located in an area known not only for its scenic beauty but for its dedication to community. Located between Charlotte, NC and Columbia, SC Chester is in a prime location for anyone with any interests varying from hiking, hunting and fishing, to enjoying the cuisine, culture, and activities expected from larger city environments. The Chester Glass Mat facility boasts a highly tenured workforce of just under 100 employees with a safety record of nearly 24 years without a lost-time injury. Job Summary

The Maintenance Electrical will be responsible for all assigned maintenance activities, including all electrical tasks. The Electrician inspects and repairs materials, products, and components for conformance to specifications by performing the following duties.

This is a day shift, first shift, 7am - 3:30pm role with overtime/on-call work as needed.

Essential Duties

  • Must be able to read instructions, blue prints, and manuals, and use any meters, hand tools, and shop equipment required to perform tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Install, troubleshoot, or repair conduit wire, A.C. controls and A.C. motors. Install, troubleshoot, or repair plant instrumentation, pneumatic and electronic.

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair D.C. drive systems.

  • Clean areas assigned and upon completion of each job.

  • Perform preventative maintenance to prevent major production interruption and to ensure the safe operating condition of the plant.

  • Assist in the training of others to improve their knowledge of plant systems.

  • Perform the duties of this job as directed by the maintenance and/or production supervisor to further improve the performance and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Must follow all safety procedures and perform tasks in a safe manner to protect yourself and plant facilities.

  • Utilize computer maintenance systems (Maximo) to record daily work activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Under This Roof, We Require:

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

  • 2 years industrial electrical maintenance experience is required, or the equivalent combination of experience and education

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to read and interpret metal rule.

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few physical variables in everyday situations
