Dollar Tree Manager of FP&A Real Estate in Chesapeake, Virginia

THE OPPORTUNITY
In this role, you will support the Real Estate division in all aspects of financial planning & analysis, including development of the annual budget, monthly forecasting, and strategic financial planning. The department is responsible for over a billion dollars in annual capital and op ex spend. You will advance not only financial, but also operational analytics for real estate, store construction, and property & facilities management. Your work will be in support of Dollar Tree’s aggressive store growth and renovation objectives and in developing and executing the strategic initiatives to support them. This position will offer a modern and thoughtful approach to data analysis utilizing the latest technologies with the goal of accelerating the company’s growth agenda, advancing Dollar Tree’s business objectives, and contributing to EBITDA and operating income improvements.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead financial planning analysts in support the FP&A team responsible for the financial and operational analytics of the company’s Real Estate division by partnering with functional and department heads to develop and build respective SG&A and capex budgets and forecasts, track actuals vs. plan and ensure spending remains within designated thresholds.
Provide actionable insights through clear, high impact, “executive-ready” presentations –, that tie the business strategy, cost drivers, and operational KPIs to financial results and objectives.
Support the configuration, design, build out, and management of a KPI dashboard
Develop and prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting packages to support executive management. Report actual results versus forecast and budget, including variance analyses with explanations and actionable insights.
Recommend and implement benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance.
Develop and deliver insightful financial and operational reporting/analyses that communicate key performance drivers to the business.
Lead regular reviews with department leaders to ensure key financial commitments are realized.
Develop financial metrics and generate insights that identify expense savings opportunities and improve productivity.
Identify areas of risk or opportunity for tighter controls and work with business owners to implement improvements through development of standardized processes.
Develop business cases for key initiatives and major programs by creating advanced financial models.
Develop, lead, and execute projects supporting strategic initiatives within the real estate department. Partner with business units across the enterprise to ensure understanding and successful implementation.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, economics, or related quantitative field
5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis
2+ years of supervisory experience
Excellent written/oral communication and data presentation skills
Strong ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including Senior executives.
Strong ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Experience with dashboarding tools such as Tableau or Power BI
Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
Must be an independent thinker with the ability to work under minimal supervision and to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA, Master’s degree in related field, or professional certification
Retail experience preferably with a high growth company
Knowledge of retail industry, particularly real estate, construction, and facilities operations
Experienced with Alteryx and IBM Planning analytics
Knowledge of statistical programming languages like R, Python (https://www.simplilearn.com/learn-the-basics-of-python-article) , and SQL (https://www.simplilearn.com/tutorials/sql-tutorial/what-is-sql) and familiarity with Scala, Java, or C++.
Experience with handling large datasets using Big Data (https://www.simplilearn.com/tutorials/big-data-tutorial/what-is-big-data) and technology (i.e. Apache, Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka)
AI and Machine learning expertise and experience with things like k-Nearest Neighbors, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests
Ability to build predictive models and algorithms using frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit Learn
Proficient Statistical Analysis skills, including tests, maximum likelihood estimators, regressions, distributions
Cloud computing – Google, Azure, and Amazon
