Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
Responsible for the safe, efficient installation, maintenance, and modification of electrical systems related to terminal operations. Ensure this is done with full compliance with company procedures and known safety practices.
Responsibilities
Maintain and service electrical equipment and systems.
Diagnose and repair failures on cranes, mobile equipment, conveyor systems, generators, lighting, and associated equipment used in the handling of bulk materials.
Test electrical systems using devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters to verify continuity and voltages.
Perform routine maintenance and testing to verify the condition of components such as electrical motors and generators, both AC and DC.
Train and develop SSPs on safe operation of electrical equipment.
Implement improvements and modifications as required and approved.
Develop and order material lists for projects and maintain records.
Maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
Complete appropriate documentation of maintenance and repairs and enter into the database as required.
Assist the maintenance team with repairs as needed.
Attend all required safety meetings and training.
Oversee third-party contractors to assure quality and compliance.
Essential Skills
Minimum 2-year degree in electrical field and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
Ability to read diagrams, electrical schematics, and drawings.
Working experience with AC/DC motor controls, VFD drives, and PLC basics.
Experience in maintenance repair, troubleshooting, high voltage, industrial automation, and industrial maintenance.
Proficiency with hand and power tools and measurement equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Working knowledge of high voltage electrical systems including instrumentation and control devices.
Ability to use formulas to plan installations from the ground up, such as motors, starters, wire gauge, transformers, and motor controls.
Ability to run conduit and 110/220 services in industrial applications.
Basic computer skills.
Proficiency in reading and understanding written directions.

Work Environment
You will be working in a terminal/warehouse/industrial environment. Willingness to work in all weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors throughout the year, is required. Must be available to work all overtime as required, including nights and weekends, and be on call 24/7 as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of CHESAPEAKE, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
