Aerotek CNC Machinist in Chesapeake, Virginia

Responsibilities:

  • Reading Blueprints: Interpret technical blueprints and design models to understand the specifications and requirements.

  • Programming: Write and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software to control the machining process.

  • Machine Setup: Set up CNC machines, including loading raw materials and selecting the appropriate tools.

  • Operation: Operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, milling, and turning.

  • Quality Control: Inspect finished products to ensure they meet design specifications using precision measuring tools.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with CNC machines and programs.

  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on CNC equipment.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of CNC programs and machine maintenance.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CNC programming and machine operation.

  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and design models.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring precision in machining processes and final products.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve machine and programming issues.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing Settings: Work in factories, machine shops, and other industrial environments.

  • Physical Demands: Involves standing for extended periods, lifting heavy materials, and working in various positions.

  • Safety Gear: Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing.
