Patient Care Assistant
Department: Atrium East – Med/Surg - Our Atrium East unit at our Chelsea hospital cares for Medical-Surgical patients. Patient diagnoses can vary from medical such as: COPD, Sepsis, withdrawal, GI bleeds, CHF or Surgical: bariatric, Mastectomy, colorectal surgeries, hernias. This unit has 24 beds and specializes in complex high acuity medical and surgical patients with length of stay from 3-5 days.
Location: Chelsea, MI hospital
Minimum pay rate: $16/hr + based upon applicable on the job patient care experience
Position Purpose:

The PCA, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.
Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success. The PCA assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
Shifts Available: Evenings – 3pm-11:30pm
Status Available: Full time, benefit eligible (80 hours per pay period – every two weeks)
Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma, GED, or a minimum of 18 years of age.
· Recent experience desired.
