Job Summary and Qualifications

The TriStar Food & Nutrition team is seeking an experienced and competent Registered Dietitian 1. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher and be responsible for assessing, implementing interventions, and monitoring/evaluating patients through the Nutrition Care Process. This role requires excellent customer service skills to serve both patients and employees.

Job Duties:

As a Registered Dietitian 1:

  • You will demonstrate the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the Competency Checklist and meet performance goals/objectives established annually on the Performance Management Plan.

  • You will integrate ethics into all areas of practice, adhere to confidentiality and patient rights policies, and support the facility’s mission and values.

  • You will utilize nutrition screening tools to appropriately identify patients at nutrition risk.

  • You will use the Nutrition Care Process for assessment, diagnosis, intervention development, and monitoring and evaluation of patients.

  • You will initiate nutrition assessments and care plans using extensive knowledge and expertise in the Nutrition Care Process for patients with complex medical conditions, including critically ill patients and those on enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support.

  • You will provide nutrition counseling for inpatients and outpatients as indicated.

  • You will adhere to nutrition care guidelines, nutrition care manual, and department/facility guidelines or protocols to provide evidence-based nutrition care.

  • You will participate in interdisciplinary team approaches, including medical rounds as assigned.

  • You will participate in departmental committees, work groups, and performance improvement projects as assigned.

  • You will take part in the interviewing process for potential dietitians.

  • You will engage in the competency assessment process and self-evaluation to establish professional goals and develop a plan emphasizing areas of specialization as appropriate.

  • You will pursue professional development goals to maintain a high level of competency in nutrition care.

  • You will ensure compliance with registration and licensure requirements.

  • You will provide education and training for dietetic interns, diet technicians, healthcare students, residents, and allied health professionals in clinical nutrition as assigned.

  • You will mentor and coach dietetic professionals, fostering their critical thinking skills.

  • You will maintain a focus on patient-centered care and positive patient/family experiences.

  • You will utilize HCA hardware and software, including Meditech and Computrition Nutrition Care Management programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required)

  • Master’s Degree (Preferred)

  • Registered Dietitian within 6 months of hire (Required)

  • Licensed Dietitian within the state within 6 months of hire (Required)

  • Maintains CDR professional portfolio with at least 75 CEUs within a 5-year period

  • Knowledge of patient safety science principles, theory, methods, standards, and regulatory requirements, and experience with patient safety analysis techniques, including root cause analysis, cause and effect analysis, and failure mode and effect analysis (Required)

  • Ability to use database software to enter, retrieve, sort, and filter information as necessary for reporting or report generation (Required)

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They also have access to (NICU) and behavioral health treatment centers for children and adults.
