Agri-Mark/McCadam Cheese EHS Specialist or EHS Manager in Chateaugay, New York

Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement and manage safety and environmental programs, compliance plans, and initiatives. Champion continuous improvement in the areas of environmental, health, and safety. Serve as an active role model for all company environmental, health, and safety standards. Chair the plant safety committee and collaborate with the Safety Team Leader to ensure diverse membership and participation amongst employees at all levels. Participate as a key member of corporate safety teams. Collaborate with assigned team members to conduct facility safety inspections and audits to identify and correct potential hazards. Facilitate investigations of all injuries, illnesses, and near-misses and safety improvement suggestions. Manage workers compensation injuries and return to work activities Work closely with insurance carriers to manage employee safety and company exposure. Serve as a liaison between outside medical and therapy providers, advisors, and Human Resources. Maintain and submit OSHA reports and logs as required. Collaborate with department leaders to ensure contractor compliance with company safety protocols. Manage programs related to State and Federal environmental pollution control and monitoring programs including wastewater, air quality, spill prevention and countermeasure, indirect discharge, storm water, and community right-to-know (EPCRA). Manage various permit processes including wastewater, air quality, indirect discharge and storm water. Administer the Ammonia Risk Management Plan related to employee and environmental safety. Work closely with maintenance to ensure preventative maintenance is completed. Interact with consultants to review and assist with the program when necessary. Administer and assist in upkeep of the plants Environmental Management System (EMS) software to schedule, track, and record reoccurring environmental compliance tasks. Meet with agency representatives when they come to monitor/audit our various permitted programs. Maintain ongoing training hours required to maintain needed certifications, e.g., wastewater, etc. Participate in the Plant Green Team initiative. Develop and deliver EHS related trainings for all new and current employees Ensure company meets compliance obligations at federal, state, and local levels (OSHA, EPA, ANR, etc.). Inform department managers of matters relating to environmental, health, and safety. Keep abreast of any laws or regulation changes that may impact the company. Take a leading role in plant emergency response coordination. All other duties as assigned. Bachelors degree in a related field of study (e.g., industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, engineering or technical preferred) with 3-5 years related experience in a manufacturing environment, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation: EHS Specialist - $70k - $85k per year or EHS Manager - $85k to $100K per year
The starting salary offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, and education.
