Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability. Ensures regulatory Compliance. This position is responsible for coordinating and managing all efforts related to disposal and /or recycling of all waste products produced by the Chaska facility. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks. Insures regulatory compliance. Manage and assist in proper handling and disposal of all forms of waste and recycling Manage waste handling building equipment and operations. Sampling including Water, Wastewater and Stormwater Ability to apply for and follow regulatory permit requirements Ensures that all required paperwork and reports are accurate, complete, timely and in compliance. Ability to audit and inspect to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including Hazardous Waste, Stormwater, Wastewater, Drinking Water, SARA and Spill Prevention. Ability to manage inquiries and inspections from regulatory agencies as necessary. Be proficient in Excel to create reports as necessary to communicate to Plant Management and Corporate Engineering Be point person for directing and managing environmental compliance programs, and reporting results to corporate via Sharepoint. Communicates status of waste water with other personal and government agencies to address complaints and answer inquiries. Identifies problems, coordinates and facilitates meetings with appropriate groups as required to identify and implement solutions. Member of Water Usage Reduction Team and involved with daily water conservation activities Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Adhere to all safety polices and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Associates degree (A.S., A.A.) or two year technical certificate in Wastewater Management EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience treating waste water; or an combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: In order to promote a manufacturing environment that is safe and efficient for both personnel and food, the ability to effectively communicate in basic English (both verbal and written) is required. This includes the ability to speak, read and comprehend safety instructions, rules and warnings for self and others in both normal and emergency situations. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Specific skills and abilities required that are not included in other sections: Knowledge of Company policies and procedures. Knowledge of Relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Waste building equipment supervised by this position. Communication and interpersonal relations as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and receive work direction, both verbally and in written form.
