University of Virginia Manager, Social Work in Charlottesville, Virginia

Plans, organizes and manages the staff who are responsible for the operational activities of the Social Work Department. Responsible for the services provided by the social workers across all the units/services of the hospital. Assures appropriate staffing and manages financial performance of the department. Responsible for completing employee evaluations, hiring decisions, providing input for budgeting and meeting productivity goals. Accountable for strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of systems that support the Care Management Department and organizational goals.

  • Provides first line supervision to department social workers or equivalent.

  • Supervise bachelors and masters level social work students

  • Provides clinical training and clinical supervision to MSW staff

  • Provides effective leadership to team/ work group.

  • Models effective communication and collaboration skills / behaviors.

  • Takes action to achieve measurable results.

  • Supports innovation and organizational change to improve effectiveness.

  • Develops talent and coaches peers and others to develop their capabilities.

  • Manages within approved budget.

  • Applies knowledge of functional area to effectively manage operations.

  • Holds staff accountable for meeting external and/or internal customer needs.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $84,364.80 - $134,992.00 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work Required

Experience: 3 years of management/leadership experience

Licensure: LMSW or LCSW licensure from the state of Virginia or able to attain within 3 years of date of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
