Job Title: Technical Documentation Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Documentation Specialist responsible for overseeing the systematic and procedural aspects of the Machine Tool Divisions' technical documentation. This role involves working closely with Project Managers and Engineers to understand and prepare the required documentation for customer orders, create procedures and manuals for custom equipment, and manage internal procedures and control of technical engineering documentation. Additionally, the role includes administrative duties for SolidWorks and EPDM licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and controls system engineers to develop procedural manuals for custom-designed automated equipment to provide to end-users.

  • Develop an internal system for backup and storage of critical data related to custom-designed automated equipment (PLC programs, software, GR&R data, master certifications, etc.).

  • Develop an internal system for online storage (through EPDM system) of all project-related documentation, making it readily accessible by any department (i.e., service, sales, engineering, etc.).

  • Occasionally create basic 2D drawings (using Draftsight, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks) for reference work (i.e., floor layout, concept sketch, etc.).

  • Manage the ECR/ECN (Engineering Change Request/Notification) process.

  • Assist the engineering group with the administrative functions of the EPDM system for change control and documentation.

  • Manage the administration of the SolidWorks and EPDM licenses.

  • Maintain the engineering master schedule.

  • Manage the request for technical documentation process.

  • Verify and correct discrepancies between engineering assembly drawings and BOM created in Great Plains.

  • Manage the standard machine engineering documentation for internal use.

  • Communicate extensively internally with various functions (engineering, proposals, project management, and shop floor).

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

  • Experience with PDM systems such as Teamcenter, EPDM, or another PDM - CAD file management system.

  • Knowledge of ECN processes and CAD administration.

  • Ability to create technical documents, procedures, and manuals clearly and correctly.

  • Strong skills in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and BOM.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Two-year technical engineering degree and/or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks, document software background , and technical drawings.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Our client is a world leader in machine tool technology and automated material handling systems. The role involves bidding on automation projects for manufacturing companies, supporting 8 regional sales managers on proposals and quoting. The team is involved in the latest automation, machine tool, and technology advancements, including giga factories, greenfield projects, AGVs, and various automation systems and OEM solutions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43000.00 - $54000.00/yr.
