We are seeking a Staff Scientist (NDEC - Nepa Development, Environment and Construction, Compliance Services) to join our Charlotte, NC team! Come join us!

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Oversee and conduct environmental field assessment activities (soil, surface water, groundwater, and soil gas sample collection, soil and rock classification, monitoring well installation, petroleum UST closure assessment, etc.) in accordance with applicable regulations and guidelines, and documentation of activities, and data entry.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.

  • 1-5 years of related petroleum remediation experience including well sampling, drilling, and tank removal.

  • Experience in NC and SC regulations and reporting.

  • Microsoft PC applications; WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Strong technical, analytical, and research skills;

  • Ability to work effectively on multiple assignments, prioritizing and delegating activities, and delivering on tight deadlines;

  • Capable of working independently, under direct supervision of others, and in a team-orientated environment;

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to perform moderately strenuous tasks.

  • Commitment to safety

Technical Requirements:

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performance of site investigations to support industrial hygiene and environmental projects, including the collection of samples and environmental data;

  • Conduct and document field activities such as soil and groundwater sampling, installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, interviews, and tank excavations and/or removals

  • Management and analysis of sampling data, including summary tables, result interpretation, and sample location maps;

  • Performance of Phase I/II environmental assessments of a broad range of industrial and commercial facilities;

  • Assisting clients with a variety of environmental, health, and safety needs, including environmental regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, industrial hygiene, and health and safety matters;

  • Preparation of technical reports.

Other miscellaneous qualities:

  • Ability to travel, up to 15%

  • OSHA HAZWOPER training, professional registrations (e.g., engineer or geologist), other environmental certifications.
