We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a strong background in cloud platform migrations, specifically from Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) to Red Hat OpenShift. This role is ideal for someone who excels in designing and implementing migration strategies, optimizing applications for cloud-native architectures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Migration Planning and Execution: Lead the migration of applications and services from Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) to Red Hat OpenShift, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal downtime.

  • Application Optimization: Refactor and optimize applications to be compatible with OpenShift's Kubernetes-based environment, enhancing scalability, reliability, and performance.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with development, operations, and DevOps teams to develop and execute migration plans that align with business needs and technical requirements.

  • Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for applications on OpenShift, automating deployment processes where possible.

  • Documentation and Training: Document migration processes and best practices, and provide training to development and operations teams on managing applications in OpenShift.

  • Troubleshooting and Support: Identify and resolve issues related to the migration process, offering ongoing support for applications post-migration.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in software engineering with at least 2+ years in cloud platform migrations, specifically involving Pivotal Cloud Foundry and Red Hat OpenShift.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes), with a deep understanding of OpenShift's environment and ecosystem.

  • Programming Languages: strong skills in one or more programming languages (Java, Python, Golang, etc.).

  • Scripting and Automation: Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.) and scripting languages (Bash, Python) for automation.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues during migrations, with a track record of successful problem resolution.

  • Soft Skills: strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

In this contingent resource assignment, you may: Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Software Engineering. Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale or longer-term Software Engineering challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors. Contribute to the resolution of complex and multi-faceted situations requiring solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that meet deliverables. Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel. Required Qualifications: 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education.
