Star Leasing Company Regional Maintenance Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina

General Purpose:

  • Impact profitability among all categories of maintenance

  • Develop consistent procedures for the repair & maintenance of all trailer types

  • Identify and develop top-notch Service Managers and provide mechanic training

    and “new-hire” orientation procedures for our branches

Corporate Responsibilities:

  • Understand and comply with Star's Corporate Expectations and company policies in all your activities

  • Communicate and Support Star's Corporate Expectations and Policies in your dealings with Branch and Corporate personnel

  • Adhere to and promote Star's Safety and Wellness standards. Promote and participate in related activities

  • Complete continuing education and personal development through assigned reading, classroom instruction and educational seminars

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of industry trends, technology, specifications, laws and regulations that could impact Star Leasing

  • Maintain adequate independence from other Star personnel to assure unbiased evaluations

Core Functions:

  • Assist branches in reaching and maintaining consistently productive working teams by continually improving our process

  • Assist branches in maintaining acceptable parts inventory levels and parts inventory management processes and procedures

  • Assist Corporate Parts Manager to ensure that Star branches recover all possible “warranty” dollars available from trailer manufacturers and component part manufacturers

  • Participates in the selection and training of all branch Service Managers and supervisors

  • Define and ensure consistent repair procedures are being followed at all Star Leasing branches

  • Ensures that all job procedures are doing according to “safe work practices” as defined by the SOPs and safety policies

  • Participate in the continued development and implementation of processes that can measure our progress in “coaching” mechanics, taking corrective actions when necessary and documenting/rewarding employee performance

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and coordinate maintenance training for all Service Managers, ex. TIA, Stemco, Highway Patrol PM training, etc.

  • Perform field equipment audits at branches

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED, employment opportunities are greater with associate's degree in business or retail management

  • 5 (five) years of supervisory experience preferred

  • 7 (seven) years of technical experience preferred

  • Understanding of Star's P & L statements

  • Must exhibit strong ability in hands-on mechanics, use of tools, and customer service

  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and act independently

  • Knowledge of work planning and scheduling and other supervisory activities

  • Strong understanding of equipment capabilities and safety requirements

  • Clear perspective of maintenance and repair issues in the industry

  • Efficient in training supervisors and mechanics

  • Understands inventory management

  • Proficient at team building and people development

  • Excellent communicator (ability to ask open-ended questions and listen actively, promotes free exchange of ideas and able to communicate ideas well with adequate detail, skilled at giving feedback)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and basic office applications

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Excellent understanding of operational processes/procedures within our industry

  • Extensive experience in managing and working with work team
