Siemens Energy Power Transformer Test Engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina

Siemens Energy is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will conduct test operations within our Power Transformers Test Field, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality and performance, alongside with the utmost operational safety standards. As a Test Engineer, you will work along with test engineers and test technicians, closely together with customers and with the engineering, production, quality and project execution teams. You will develop, implement and improve test procedures, tackle problems and collaborate to maintain a positive and safe work environment.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Integrate the test team in the execution of test plans for power transformers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.

  • Understand the consequences of not meeting customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures in all test operations.

  • Proactively act identifying safety risks and collaborate proposing measures to mitigate them.

  • Develop and implement test procedures, methodologies, and best practices to enhance test efficiency and product quality.

  • Collaborate with the engineering, production and quality teams to identify, register, communicate and resolve test issues, supporting root cause analysis.

  • Design and oversee the setup of test equipment, fixtures, and instrumentation required for product test.

  • Ensure the maintenance and calibration of test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.

  • Actively troubleshoot test systems.

  • Manage the documentation of test results, reports, and statistical analysis to support product development, certification, and quality assurance processes.

  • Propose continuous improvement initiatives in test processes, leveraging new technologies and methodologies to enhance test capabilities and product quality.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product and technology development projects, ensuring that test requirements are integrated from the design phase.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field of engineering.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in test within the power transformer manufacturing industry or high voltage related fields. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.

  • Solid understanding of test standards, quality control principles, and methodologies specific to transformer manufacturing.

  • Experience with test equipment, data acquisition systems, and IT tools.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Effective communication and social skills to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.

  • Effective English language skills (spoken, written and comprehension).

  • Proven safety mindset.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
