Astellas is announcing an Oncology Regional Business Manager in the Southeast Atlantic area. This territory includes but is not limited to: North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama.

Purpose & Scope:

The Oncology Regional Business Manager’s primary purpose is providing the leadership necessary to achieve sales goals for Astellas’ Oncology products and services within a region. Relies on a foundation of clinical expertise in oncology to develop and implement strategic business plans that translate into delivery of key business goals. Leads Sales Representatives and provides direction and coaching to team regarding execution of sales and marketing strategies and tactics, as well as employee development. Cultivates and maintains relationships and effectively collaborates with key external and internal customers.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate strong and clear leadership through consistent communication and direction, and assumes direct responsibility for achieving or exceeding sales goals

  • Maximize productivity and sales effectiveness within region by executing sales and marketing plans and promotional activities

  • Proactive; takes ownership of situations and demonstrates problem solving ability

  • Monitor and understand sales trends and competitor activities within the region

  • Recruit and retain top performers

  • Work with sales representatives on a consistent basis, evaluating their interaction with key customers, providing them with coaching and feedback on sales presentations

  • Understands the oncology healthcare landscape and market dynamics, trends, competitors, regulations

  • Has a good understanding of oncology distribution models and managed health care environment and teaches direct reports to elevate their knowledge

  • Establishes a positive reputation for Astellas Oncology throughout the region with key opinion leaders

  • Provide ethical leadership and demonstrate Astellas’ values by adhering to corporate policies and required sales practice regulations in a compliant and ethical manner; Ensure each sales representative within region understands, accepts, and adheres to the policies and procedures

  • Attend sales meetings, training programs and medical conventions as requested

Quantitative Dimensions:

  • Cons Consistently meets both sales objectives and budget requirements

  • Maintain consistency across territories when evaluating performance

  • Maximize & effectively manage all promotional resources at regional level

Organizational Context :

  • Reports to Oncology Business Sr./Director

  • Entry level people manager role within Oncology field sales

  • Leads on average 6-10 sales representatives within a sales region

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical sales

  • Proven record of high performance, consistent results, and development of sales representatives

  • Demonstrated business acumen to understand and analyze business and market drivers, and the ability to develop others’ skills in this area

  • Proven ability to work effectively in matrix teams

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills

  • Ability to travel 60% of the time

  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing

Preferred:

  • 2+ Years of pharmaceutical management experience

  • Experience with geographic region customer base

  • Robust understanding the oncology reimbursement landscape

  • Oncology therapeutic area knowledge /experience

  • Experience selling oncology products

  • Broad based, cross-functional experience

  • Previous launch experience in oncology

  • Participation and completion of management/leadership development or assessment program

Compensation: $159,800 – 213,000 (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, commensurate with experience)
