Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and responsible Grounds Maintenance Manager to lead a landscaping crew in maintaining parks, greenways, and athletic fields. This role requires a blend of landscaping expertise, mechanical skills, and strong leadership abilities. The Manager will oversee the crew, ensure the equipment is well-maintained and secure, assist with work as needed, and foster a positive, respectful environment where effective communication is key. The position also includes driving the company truck to job sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and motivate the crew with a positive and supportive attitude. Ensure tasks are completed on time, to a high standard, and in a collaborative manner. Effective communication is essentialthis role requires clear, respectful communication with team members, promoting a constructive and encouraging atmosphere.
  • Equipment Care and Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and care of landscaping equipment. Troubleshoot and repair machinery to ensure it is functioning properly and ready for use.
  • Security and Supervision: Monitor the security of tools, equipment, and the landscaping truck. Ensure all items are accounted for and stored properly to prevent theft or damage.
  • Job Site Management: Supervise landscaping tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, and trash removal. Ensure the crew follows safety guidelines and that work is performed efficiently and safely.
  • Driving and Transportation: Drive the company truck to job sites, transporting equipment and crew members as needed. Ensure safe and timely arrival at each location.
  • Quality Control: Regularly inspect job sites to ensure work meets quality standards. Provide constructive feedback and ongoing training to team members to help them improve their skills.
  • Communication with Management: Serve as the liaison between the crew and management. Report on job progress, equipment issues, and any concerns from the team or clients.
  • Safety: Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including proper PPE usage and safe operation of all equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in landscaping, with strong knowledge of landscaping tasks and equipment.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience, with a focus on maintaining a positive, respectful, and collaborative team environment.
  • Mechanical skills to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair landscaping equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Valid drivers license and a clean driving record (must be able to drive the company truck).
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with team members, fostering a positive, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with athletic field maintenance or park management.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
