Description Job:

The Global Financial Crimes (GFC) Specialist under supervision, assists Global Financial Crimes executives and managers in the identification, escalation and timely mitigation of compliance and operational risks in alignment with the Compliance and Operational Risk Management (CORM) Program, the Financial Crimes and Global Compliance Enterprise Policies (GC Policy), and the Enterprise Fraud Risk Management Policy.

This role is responsible for ensuring consistent quality of activities, processes, and outputs by engaging in effective review practices across the team.

Global Financial Crimes (GFC) Specialist on the Automated Detection and Monitoring Solutions Oversight and CRA Analytics Team (SOC). This team is focused on Oversight over Detection and Monitoring as well as analytics and innovation of our Customer Risk Assessment tool.

A successful candidate will be involved in identifying the financial crimes risk through research and data analytics in GFC and Line of Business systems, providing advice and guidance on long-term solutions to ensure regulatory coverage over global financial crimes risks. Additional responsibilities include metrics and documentation around Automated Detection and CRA tools. Acceptable candidates must be highly-motivated self-starters able to work on projects independently or as part of a larger group.

This position provides the unique opportunity to learn about many different functional areas within the bank, including all eight Lines of Business and more, as well as the technical knowledge related to how to interact with complex database structures. Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development and maintenance of financial crimes owned policies and standards, and reviews relevant Front-Line Units/Control Functions-owned policies and standards to ensure that regulatory requirements and operational risks are appropriately addressed.

  • Assists in the production of independent financial crimes risk management reporting to Global Compliance & Operational Risk (GC&OR) Senior Leaders and FLU/CF Senior Leaders.

  • Assists in the monitoring of changes in regulations applicable to Global Financial Crimes, including advising business leaders, directing the appropriate areas to implement or amend policies, standards, procedures and/or processes to address regulatory requirements, and challenging the implementation plan as needed.

  • Contributes to risk coverage plans, executes independent risk monitoring, testing, and risk assessments.

  • Supports with escalating financial crimes related compliance and operational risks and issues to appropriate governance routines, management/board level committees.

  • Assists in the identification, aggregation, reporting, and escalation of the remediation and thematic analysis of FLU/CF-owned issues and control enhancements related to financial crimes.

  • Assists with the development of risk metrics, monitors related performance and breach remediation.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years Business & Functional experience

  • 1-2 years of basic knowledge and experience in anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, fraud, sanctions, or any financial crimes

  • 1-2 years of basic knowledge and experience in SQL and other analytics tools - understanding and re-writing queries (will accept/consider academic knowledge)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • 3+ Years of experience in AML/CFT/Sanctions role in public or private sector

  • Strong personal drive, attention to detail, individual initiative, a sense of urgency and responsiveness, with a desire to grow, learn and take on increasing levels of responsibility

  • Must be a self-motivated, critical thinker who is comfortable and effective working with varying levels of guidance

  • Ability to handle multiple projects in dynamic environment and global team setting

  • Risk management, issue management, regulatory guidance

  • Proven process design and project management

  • Policies, procedures and guidelines management

  • Monitoring, Surveillance, and Testing

  • Written and Oral Communications

  • Presentation and Reporting Skills

  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification

  • Knowledge of international financial crimes laws, rules, and regulations

  • Understanding of Banking products and Financial Crimes vulnerabilities applicable to these products

  • Must be a self-motivated worker who is comfortable and effective working with varying levels of guidance

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products including advanced knowledge of Excel

  • Ability to work & effectively communicate with cross functional teams

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate and work with all levels within the organization

  • Strong data analysis and data presentation
