What We Do
NORC partners with government, corporate, and nonprofit clients around the world to conduct survey research that informs critical decisions facing society.
NORC Field Data Collectors, internally known as field interviewers, play a significant role in collecting the data that drives our research.
They conduct in-person interviews to gather survey data for research on subjects including health care, employment, education, and economics.
The Ideal Candidate for Field Data Collector
Flexible, part-time work (15 – 25 hours a week)
Our most successful interviewers typically dedicate 4-6 hours a day to interviewing
Self-starter who can manage, organize, and commit to your own work schedule
Enjoys meeting new people from diverse backgrounds and professions
Available to meet with people in-person at their homes, jobs, or other public spaces to conduct interviews, sometimes without notice to the residents
Able to work evenings and weekends when people are more likely to be at home
Has field interviewing, canvassing, hospitality, sales, or customer service experience
Requirements For Employment:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School Diploma or GED Preferred
Must be comfortable making contact with participants unannounced and without appointments
Must be able and willing to drive in metropolitan or rural areas within a 50–100-mile range
Must be able and willing to work a mix of afternoon, evening, and weekends when people are more likely to be at home
Must reside within 100 miles of the location displayed in the posting
Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation
Must have basic knowledge of a tablet or laptop computer usage skills such as sending email or opening and using a web browser to search for information.
All employees hired for this position must present evidence of their identity and authorization to work in the United States (I-9 documentation).

Salary And Benefits:
This position is classified as intermittent. The pay rate for this position will be$19.00per hour; base pay is based on experience and geographic location.
NORC will contribute to an individually owned, fully vested retirement account for those who meet eligibility requirements.
Intermittent staff are eligible to make pre-tax or post-tax contributions as part of NORC’s Supplemental Retirement Plan.

AmeriSpeak is the first U.S. multi-client household panel. Since its founding by NORC at the University of Chicago in 2015, AmeriSpeak has produced more than 3,500 surveys, been cited by dozens of media outlets and become the primary survey partner of the nation's preeminent news service, The Associated Press. Our sampling captures a true picture of America, providing better representation than other panels for hard-to-reach populations, including young adults, rural households, persons who are less interested in the news, and social and political conservatives. Project will begin training on April 8th, 2025. In-person field work begins once training has been completed, and the project will continue through June 2025.
Field data collection is project-based work that ends once the research is complete.
Because of the temporary nature of field work, these positions are great for students, teachers, retirees, and others who are looking for flexible, contracted work.
