Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Accounting Technician provides financial controller and internal audit functions for all funds within the Division of Student Affairs. Extensive knowledge of state and university accounting rules and procedures are required in order to provide complex analysis of financial data. Working knowledge of Banner Financial and Banner HR data reporting is required.

Minimum Experience / Education:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Four year degree in business administration or accounting; or two year degree in business administration or accounting and one year of experience. Or an equivalent level of combination of training and experience.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

Work Sample

Knowledge of Banner Finance and Banner HR

Knowledge of online reporting tools (Report Central)

Ability to summarize complex financial statements for management

A minimum of 5 years progressive accounting experience for a university or other public governing agency. Highly proficient in financial data analysis and producing reports using a variety of data tools. Must have excellent MS Excel skills including use of Visual Basic to create complex automated financial reports from Banner and Report Central and to be able to integrate the raw data into managerial summary reports for both current financial status and pro-forma projections.
