The teacher is also responsible for helping the students to appreciate and enjoy the Spanish language and different Spanish cultures. He or she is expected to have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the schools Spanish curriculum and the developmental stages of their students. Character development and the social emotional development of each child are as equally important as their academic development. Communicating effectively with families and working in partnership with them, is vital to each childs success in the classroom. Collaboration with peers and a positive work ethic are expected. Teachers have assigned duties and also need to be willing to help out as needed. Educational Qualifications* - Bachelors degree or higher, required - Command of the Spanish language required, fluency preferred Skills, Abilities and Competencies Previous successful classroom experience, required Demonstrated command of child development and current best practices in elementary education Ability to partner and communicate effectively with parents Collaborative professional nature Understanding of pedagogy and fostering intellectual growth
