Title of position: Lower School Faculty Position Reports directly to: Director of the Early Learning Center and Lower School Department: Lower School Position type: Full time, exempt, 10-month position Start Date: August 2024 Salary: Based on experience Location: Antilles School, 7280 Frenchman Bay, St. Thomas, VI 00802 Antilles School is an independent coeducational day school located on St. Thomas, in the US Virgin Islands. Position Overview Antilles School is seeking a dynamic and talented teacher to join a committed team of educators in a collaborative environment that places a high value on educating the whole child. Ideal candidates are passionate and self-motivated professionals, prepared to teach and nurture young children and support a wide range of learning styles and abilities. An understanding of and a commitment to, a culturally and ethnically diverse population is essential. Responsibilities include maintaining a child-friendly classroom and age-appropriate routines to teach the core subjects of Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar, Math, Science, and Social Studies. The teacher is expected to have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the schools curriculum and the developmental stages of their students. Character development and the social emotional development of each child are as equally important as their academic development. Communicating effectively with families and working in partnership with them is vital to each childs success in the classroom. Collaboration with peers and a positive work ethic are expected. Teachers have assigned duties and need to be willing to help out as needed.
