We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity in the higher education sector in Charleston, South Carolina. The role of a Staff Accountant is integral to our team, with a focus on maintaining financial records and processing transactions. The workplace is dynamic, and the role involves a variety of functions relating to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting.

Responsibilities:

• Handle accounts payable and ensure timely and accurate payments

• Manage accounts receivable and follow-up on pending dues

• Conduct bank reconciliations regularly to ensure financial accuracy

• Maintain the general ledger and assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements

• Prepare journal entries and account adjustments

• Perform month-end close procedures ensuring all financial data is accurate

• Utilize QuickBooks for accounting functions and financial management.

Requirements • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

• Proven experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Demonstrated ability to perform Bank Reconciliations

• Proficiency in maintaining and managing the General Ledger

• Experience in preparing and posting Journal Entries

• Capability to handle Month End Close procedures

• Proficiency in using QuickBooks accounting software

• Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
