Job Description Summary

Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions, and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Participates in the R&D activities within the unit and across global R&D projects within ITR.

  • Identifies manufacturing/engineering deficiencies, proposes solutions and improvements.

  • Responsible for the electrical design of the products manufactured or designed in USC/ITR.

  • Ensures that all technical documentation, issued by the Engineering/R&D group, required for the manufacturing and sales of the products (drawings, bill of materials, instructions, manuals, material specifications etc.) is prepared in high quality, efficiently and in a timely manner.

  • Leads the development of new products, improvement, and customization of existing products. Works closely with unit and ITR involved in the development process.

  • Provides technical support in the resolution of field problems. Provides technical guidance to suppliers, working closely with Supply Chain and Sourcing. Supports manufacturing on a daily basis.

  • Supports the sales effort in the preparation of proposals and quotations, and the review of non-standard requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in HV apparatus engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in the field of instrument or power transformers.

  • 2D and 3D on-hands drafting experience is required.

  • Initiative, ability to plan, organize and prioritize work, analytical and problem-solving skills, good interpersonal relationship, and team player. Excellent time management skills

  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in electrical and magnetic analysis and EMTP/ATP is a plus.

  • Good communication skills are necessary for this position, including written and verbal English.

  • Second language skills are of benefit.
