Amentum Carpenter Maintenance in Chantilly, Virginia

JOB FUNCTION: Perform general maintenance and repair of facilities and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform carpentry work.

  • Responsible for planning, layout, and execution of jobs. • Performs minor masonry and concrete work.

  • Make electrical alteration and repairs (120 volts or below) as required to the air conditioning equipment and controls, heating, ventilation, and other mechanical equipment; replace electrical receptacles, lights, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.

  • Use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceiling, repair and replace concrete floor tiles, doors and install door locks and unicans, hang pictures and white boards, replace broken windowpanes, paint floors, steps and sidewalks, and inspect and repair roofs, as needed.

  • Maintain and repair pipe and fixtures and install vents and traps in the plumbing system, in accordance with local sanitary codes, perform upkeep of restrooms.

  • Maintain the irrigation system. • Pressure-wash the sidewalks and walkways.

  • Clean parking lots, paint striping and install parking signs

  • First line for snow and ice removal. Prepare and maintain snow equipment. Keep trackof the salt and ice melt supplies. Install plows and spreaders on the trucks.

  • Respond to trouble calls and make service adjustments.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, equipment lubrication and daily inspection in accordance with the Preventive Maintenance Program.

  • Institute corrective action and/or inform supervisor of any deficiencies found while performing preventive maintenance.

  • Perform general maintenance such as painting, plumbing and repair equipment and machinery.

  • Assists HVAC Mechanics and electricians. • Perform related work as required.

  • Provides oversight to outside contractors. • Directs other repair personnel as assigned. • Read blueprints and generate bill of materials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions. • A willingness to work shift if necessary, including days, evenings, and nights as well as overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.

EDUCATION: High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Four years of experience in trade or building maintenance.

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship, vocational or internal developmental program for a journeyman carpenter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess thorough knowledge of the carpentry trade.

  • Must be able to operate power tools and machinery as required.

  • Ability to write correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

SECURITY: Must be a U.S. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: I ncumbents may work in conditions that require operating industrial machinery/power tools and motor vehicles. Additionally, incumbents may participate in work that requires walking, bending, squatting, and carrying materials throughout the facility. Workplace conditions necessitate following strict safety guidelines and the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Work tasks requiring the incumbent to lift weight more than 50 pounds requires two or more persons.
