Summary of Position

[The Houseparent is responsible for the students assigned to the home as well as the care of the home itself. The employee is further responsible to work cooperatively with their assigned partner, the core team and the community. This is an exempt position. ]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}

  • Supports and models the Catholic Mission and the Native American Culture that are the foundations of St. Josephs Indian School.
  • Promotes a reclaiming environment for all students through the Circle of Courage.

Responsibilities

  1. Protects the rights and dignity of individual students

``` 2. Attends to students health care and mental health needs

``` 3. Attends to the moral, spiritual, and character development of students by teaching them to exhibit behaviors and values deemed appropriate for a member of the St. Josephs Indian School (SJIS) community

``` 4. Teaches social, self-advocacy, life-long learning, basic life skills and facilitates student scholastic achievement

``` 5. Attends to students personal safety

``` 6. Facilitates students leisure and recreational activities

```{=html}

``` 7. Facilitates and maintains a developmentally appropriate behavior management system, including the implementation and maintenance of individual student programs as designated

``` 8. Involve all families in aspects of their childs programming in order to promote good relationships and support for the student (See Extended Houseparent job description for detailed expectations)

``` 9. Teach the benefits of generosity via the facilitation of community service opportunities

``` 10. Responsible for maintaining the student living facility and home office

``` 11. Maintains the student home structure

``` 12. Achieves and maintains SJIS professional Child Care Worker expectations

``` 13. Performs other responsibilities as required by the Residential Coordinator

Expectations of Hours Worked

[Expectation of hours worked when on-duty are as follows:]{calibri",sans-serif"=""}

HPs are to report to work by 3:00pm on weekdays, at the latest.

HPs are to remain on-duty until 8:30am on weekdays, or until all students in their care are in school and additional responsibilities have been completed.
