St. Joseph County ISD Mental Health Consultant/Coach in Centreville, Michigan
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use practice-based coaching to support the implementation of Conscious Discipline at program sites and other research-based strategies as directed by administration.
- Conduct mental health consultations for program sites at least 3 times per year for Early Head Start and other sites as directed by the administration.
- Collaborate with the care giving teams to develop action plans for the site that support social emotional learning, including determination of target areas, development of success criteria, and identification of coaching supports as needed.
- Collaborate with the care giving teams and families to develop individual care plans for children as needed.
- Transform learning settings so they are safe and supportive for all children. Building settings that are physically and emotionally safe and foster strong bonds among children and adults.
- Inform instruction to teach children social, emotional and cognitive skills. Intentionally teach specific skills and competencies to be used in a variety of daily routines such as meal time, transition, outside time, etc.
- Build adult expertise in child development. Ensure educators develop expertise in child development and in the science of learning. Support this learning through ongoing professional support for the social and emotional learning of teachers and all other adults who work with children.
- Align resources and leverage partners in the community to address the whole child. Build partnerships between school, families, and community organization to support healthy learning and development in and out of school.
- Support coherent curriculum aligned to standards and implementation of high quality, evidence-based practices through consistent use of educational data to inform instruction specific complex learning needs. Use child outcomes assessments as needed and appropriate.
- Support families in parenting practices with individual families as needed with the provided curriculum, including conducting home visits.
- Provide the parenting curriculum on a regular schedule as determined by the Early Head Start administrative staff.
- Establish trust and rapport with to engage families in services.
- Maintain non-judgmental attitude and supportive, strength-based approach.
- Maintain professional atmosphere and demeanor in classroom settings, acting at all times as a representative of the St. Joseph County ISD.
- Develop family-centered plans of service focused on strengths, goals and needs.
- Link families to resources in the community based on the family's needs.
- Implement trauma informed practices and strategies with families.
- Support family involvement and engagement as outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
- Participate in professional development activities as appropriate and/or requested by the supervisor.
- Provide personal transportation to home and meetings throughout the county.
- Provide other related duties as assigned by the St. Joseph County ISD administration.
