NBC Universal Multimedia Journalist Associate, Telemundo Colorado in Centennial, Colorado

NBCUniversal’s Local station in Denver, Colorado KDEN TV, is looking for a skilled MMJ-Producer Associate to help take our streaming content and newscasts to a new level.

This Multimedia Journalist Associate is part of NBCU Local's 18- 24 month Development Program. It is a fast-track opportunity for television or digital journalists early in their careers or experienced print journalists interested in transitioning to television as on-air reporters. 

We are looking for someone who is passionate about news, loves breaking news and has a creative vision for crafting live programs. You will collaborate closely with producers and creative services, to create innovative, up-to-the-minute content that resonates with our viewers. 

The ideal candidate loves to collaborate, wants to help lead a team, and is ready to take on new challenges to help us continue to grow. You will work closely with our streaming products and help us continue to find new ways to reach our audience no matter what platform they are on.

Responsibilities: 

  • Gather, produce, and write news segments for newscasts or local programs and for multiplatform such as OTT

  • Enhance content with graphics, video, research, and station branding

  • Collaborate with reporters, anchors, and news managers to determine content needs

  • Report and disseminate breaking and developing news quickly through website updates, push alerts, social posts, and newsletters

  • Use X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and other social media tools to report and engage our audience

  • Edit broadcast video for digital presentations 

  • Clearly communicate your vision to producers, executive producer, and creative services team

  • Gather information to develop enterprise and community stories

  • Develop and maintain a network of news sources providing access to exclusive local news

  • Field produce, conduct interviews and shoot stories

  • Develop and pitch story ideas

  • Execute time sensitive decisions

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

  • BA or BS in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Strong communication/presentation skills - verbal and written

  • Strong ability to collaborate and coordinate across projects and functions, as necessary

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Desired Characteristics: 

  • Knowledge of I-News 

  • Knowledge of camera operation, editing skills and other technical equipment such as Dejero and Live U

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

  • Knowledge of libel law and applicable FCC rules and regulations

  • Personal initiative and ability to collaborate with managers

  • Displays a positive work ethic and a high degree of integrity and professionalism 

  • Ability to create urgent, engaging, and conversational news copy and visuals under tight deadlines. 

  • Team player who is flexible and works well under pressure

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Open to daily feedback 

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
