CLM Community Action Agency Cedarville Head Start Cook in Cedarville, Michigan

Job Purpose

Responsible for planning and implementing the nutrition program. Prepares and serves age appropriate and healthy foods in accordance with program requirements and the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Must keep required certifications current and up to date

· Ensures that food service meets the guidelines of the CACFP and program requirements.

· Plans, prepares and serves healthy, nutritious meals in accordance with established menus.

· Operate kitchen appliances, mechanical parts, and sharp objects for preparing food.

· Ensure all staff are aware of and accommodate special dietary needs.

· Ensure that all food purchased and served is in accordance with cycle menus and food cost approved by the Administrative Assistant.

· Ensure that food service areas adhere to sanitation guidelines established by Health Department.

· Provides guidance and direction to the Assistant Cook in the performance of job duties.

· Ensure weekly, timely, accurate submission of food service records to the Administrative Assistant.

· Ensures accurate records for CACFP reimbursement.

· Completes menu and sanitation records daily.

· Assists teachers in implementing classroom nutrition activities.

· Attend and participate in all required meetings.

· Flexible working hours on an occasional basis

· Related duties as assigned.

· Understand and promote the goals and philosophy of Head Start.

· Become familiar with CLM CAA's Employee Handbook and the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and follow policies outlined therein.

· Has general knowledge of and adheres to Head Start Program Performance Standards and the agency's mission statement.

· Adhere to CLM CAA policies and procedures, and Head Start policies and procedures.

· Represent CLM CAA, its policies and point of view while interacting with other agencies and individuals.

· Recognizes and understands the functions of Parent Committee, cooperates with committees, and Head Start Policy Council.

· Works the number of hours designated in personnel action, reports absences to immediate supervisor at least one hour prior to scheduled time to report.

· Reports to work area ready to begin work at the assigned time.
