Job Title: Welder

Job Description

As a Welder, you will be responsible for welding various types of steel in the production of frames. Your ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics will be crucial in identifying the right parts for the job. You will use tools such as tape measures, protractors, combination squares, micrometers, and dial calipers. You will set voltages and wire speeds on welding machines to create reliable and aesthetic-looking welds. Your role will also involve using an oxyacetylene torch to cut, preheat or anneal metal parts. You will be required to weld from various positions, including climbing in and out of frames. Additionally, you will assemble shear heads, use feeder and gauges to set blade clearance, and complete welding tasks. Your tasks will involve working with sheet metal to make guards, running shear in the booth, and using the hand brake to bend up edges and weld completely. You will also operate a CNC Burn Table and maintain it along with related equipment. You will have a working knowledge of computers and CNC controls and be capable of using a power leaf brake, power shear, hand brake, and power roll.

Job Type

This is a permanent position.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Work Environment

You will be part of a union shop consisting of 110 total employees, with 5 people on your shift. You will work on a small team and have the ability to work independently. Please note that the shop is not climate-controlled. The machines manufactured here are used to produce duct work and our clients are from all over the globe. The working hours are from Monday to Friday, 6am - 4:30pm. Overtime is optional, but widely available. There is also an optional 6-hour shift on Saturdays, with no work on Sundays.
