Do you want to lead a team of highly motivated engineers enabling the development and product transition of advanced military communications systems? We are looking for an individual to lead our digital and test engineering software team. As our digital and test engineering leader, you’ll be working with the rest of our software and systems teams to create next generation military communication capabilities.

You will be responsible for contributing to the advancement of our digital infrastructure supporting the development of embedded communication products. In addition, your leadership will help with the creation of advanced testing capabilities to support transition of our communication products into the factory. Your contributions will be key from pursuit through release and maintenance of software tools including managing cost and schedule for the activities your team supports.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and Develop a High-Performing Engineering Team: Manage and mentor a diverse team of engineers, from entry level to seasoned professionals. This includes hiring, staffing allocation, and fostering a culture of growth and collaboration

  • Grow Talent and Foster Job Satisfaction: Support team members in their professional development goals and career aspirations at Collins Aerospace. Provide constructive performance feedback regularly and collaborate with employees on growth areas

  • Collaborate Across Functions: Engage with engineers, engineering leadership, program managers, and shared service organizations to ensure seamless integration of embedded software development infrastructure and factory test software. Foster strong networking relationships to support project success

  • Champion DEVSECOPS Initiatives: Advocate for the advancement and integration of DEVSECOPS capabilities to enhance product security and operational efficiency. Drive funding initiatives and oversee development efforts in this critical area

  • Support Pursuit and Bidding Activities: Participate actively in pursuit activities, including bidding for new programs. Contribute technical expertise and strategic insights to strengthen proposals and secure new business opportunities

  • Optimize Staffing and Program Management: Manage staffing levels across multiple programs to ensure alignment with project schedules and resource requirements. Utilize earned value management techniques to monitor and enhance program performance and profitability

  • Ensure Compliance and Process Adherence: Uphold Collins' standards and procedures, ensuring all engineering activities comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and enhance operational effectivenes

    Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

    Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Previous experience leading small engineering teams, experience with bidding, project planning, earned value management, and risk and opportunity management

  • Proficient with modern software development technology stacks (Atlassian, Gitlab, Github), software security tools (Coverity, Understand, Blackduck), as well as infrastructure automation technologies (Ansible, Terraform, Chef)

  • Experience with Agile development concepts

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
