JOB GOAL:

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, the Design and Construction Operations Coordinator provides support to the construction and space-planning department of the Facilities & Public Safety Division. This role requires a high level of independent judgment with an understanding of each department within the division. Ability to multitask and problem solve in the absence of direct supervision while remaining patient and calm in high stress situations and emergencies.

The typical work schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a liaison to the Facilities &-Public Safety Division on a variety of internal and external communications.

  • Collaborate with Campus Architect on short and long-term construction and planning projects for the College.

  • Manage small renovation projects with minimal oversight (i.e. capital improvement level projects)?

  • Manage the department’s document warehouse related to construction documentation, OEM’s and Drawings.

  • Coordinate campus furniture needs, including maintaining a database of inventory, planning and budgeting for new furniture, working with furniture vendors, and keeping furniture standards up-to-date

  • Work directly with contractors and vendors and communicate effectively for streamlined workflow, keeping projects on schedule and on budget.

  • Assist in maintenance and support of Kirkwood’s SharePoint systems at it relates to construction assets.

  • Manage database (R25) for space classifications, space priorities and room numbering. Gather, evaluate and organize departmental data.

  • Produce, edit, and compile reports, correspondence, communications, presentations and other documents.

  • Continue development of College’s Interior Building Standards and documentation.

  • Understand and manage project budgets. Coordinator for annual capital improvement projects.

  • Generate quick plans/elevation studies, or sketches of spaces as required.

  • Coordinate college personnel move request.

  • Assist with sustainability initiatives related to the colleges 2024 Climate Action Plan Perform other related work duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves Constant (67-100%) sitting in an office, as well as talking on the telephone and in person, hearing repetitive motion, viewing computer screen and other kinds of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) walking, standing, and grasping. Occasional (10-33%) reaching, lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and exertion of up to 20 pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's Degree plus 1-3 years' experience

  • Computer skills, knowledge of standard computer software and office equipment required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 1-3 years' design and construction experience preferred

  • Use of Excel, Bluebeam, Autocad, Sketchup and/or Revit preferred

  • Data analysis experience preferred
