CNC Fab Machine Operator

Job Description

The CNC operator is responsible for setting up and operating a press brake, Laser, saw, Shear and other machines to bend, cut & shape materials for welders to fabricate. The operator ensures that the finished product meets quality standards by performing inspections and making adjustments as needed. Key duties include selecting the appropriate tooling, select programming for the machine, loading materials, and performing routine maintenance on the press brake.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate various machines to bend, shape, and cut metal sheets.

  • Select appropriate tooling and programing for the machine.

  • Load materials into the machines.

  • Perform inspections to ensure finished products meet quality standards.

  • Make necessary adjustments to the machine and materials.

  • Perform routine maintenance on the machines.

  • 6+ months of experience with any CNC Brake Press, Shear, Saw, Bender, Mill or Lathe

  • Experience with blueprint reading

  • Experience with tape measure usage

Work Environment

This is a manufacturing facility located on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids, IA, producing a broad range of aluminum feed transportation equipment. The environment is similar to a general shop, being cool in the winters and warm in the summers. The main departments include the service department (fixing pre-existing equipment), welding department (welding the equipment), and final assembly department (hooking up the last few things to the trailer). Shift is 2nd shift 2:30pm-11:00pm. All candidates will train on the 1st shift for the first couple of weeks.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
