PMX INDUSTRIES INC Assistant Plant Manager in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

TheAssistant Plant Managerwillassist the Plant Manager by providing leadership in the Casting, Hot Works, Rolling Mill, Slitting and Packaging, and Quality Departments.

Primary Duties:

  • Expected to follow all safety rules and policies and work in a manner that protects themselves and other stakeholders from hazards and injuries.

  • Responsible for development and implementation of goals and objectives of the department consistent with the corporate goals and objective, which include:

    • Provide a high level of leadership.
    • Review and analyze operational data and lead process improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure adherence to company policies and guidelines.
    • Manage departments, including associated reporting.
    • Ensure adherence to and promotion of acceptable Quality practices and standards within the organization.
    • Develop and oversee departmental budgets; control costs.
    • Establish and maintain daily productivity.
    • Ensure delivery of product in a timely manner in accordance with established business plans.
    • Support the training and development of all employees under control of position.
    • Provide and maintain a safe work environment.
    • Build and maintain a positive work environment.
    • Coordinate with other departments as needed to create a team environment.
    • Direct development of departmental business plans.
    • Provide input to strategic and tactical initiatives as indicated and requested by Executive staff.
    • Comply with all air quality and discharge regulations and policies.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • A Bachelors Degree and minimum of 10 years management experience in heavy industrial manufacturing required; management in a union facility, foundry, or rolling mill is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skill Requirements:

  • Leadership skills.
  • Sound communication, organizational, and analytical skills with the ability to plan work.
  • Strategic business orientation with strong customer focus.
  • General understanding of PCs and related software experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports.
  • Ability to monitor, plan, and organize budgets.
  • Must be able to communicate in English for all business / job related transactions.

Work Schedule:

  • Day shift position with some evenings required.
  • Some weekend/holiday work and travel may be required.

Work Environment:

  • Frequent time spent in Production Manufacturing environment that may include weather and environmental temperature extremes and high noise levels.
  • Additionally, potential exposure to molten metal, hot material, high voltage, radiation, heavy equipment, pressurized systems, various gases, and congested area or confined space.
  • Shocks, burns and explosions are also a potential hazard.
  • Job activities involve working around machines and equipment in motion.
