GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Kirkwood Community College is seeking a part-time Workplace Communication faculty member to teach Workplace Communication. We are looking for instructors to teach at the Main Campus in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
There is a strong possibility for the instructor to teach additional courses in subsequent semesters.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Constant (67-100%)
Effectively organize and teach curriculum in accordance with established and/or developed syllabi for our Workplace Communication course.
Effectively teach in various delivery formats, primarily in person.
Maintain current course syllabi for all courses taught.
File a current copy of the syllabus and provide a course syllabus beginning of each term in accordance with department guidelines.
Effectively organize and prepare learning activities for assigned courses in accordance with established syllabi.
Evaluate, record, and share student performance and progress on a regular basis and provide students with timely feedback.
Make student referrals when deemed necessary to the other college personnel such as the dean, counselor, Financial Aid, etc., for more specialized information and assistance.

Possess the ability to organize and present various concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities, and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
Prepare for, attend, and facilitate all classes and finals as scheduled.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, and the general public.
Send or submit your course syllabi to the office staff at the beginning of each semester.
Check rosters to ensure that students in your section are registered for your section.
Report attendance for financial aid purposes.
Respond to students and to their work in a civil and timely fashion.
Report midterm grades and final grades accurately and by the published deadlines.
Respond to staff questions for book orders.
Respond to staff and administrative communications about individual students.
Respond with data for the department assessment projects.
Attend to your Kirkwood email each weekday.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
The position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A conferred Bachelor’s degree by date of appointment from an accredited institution.
Relevant workplace experience.
Significant experience with all kinds of workplace communications, including resumes, cover letters, business memos, newsletters, oral presentations, reports, email communications, visual aids, interviewing, and more.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Familiarity or experience with teaching at a community college.
Experience teaching or training others in communication, business, marketing, or workplace skills.
Significant graduate coursework in communication, business, technical writing, marketing, digital media, English, speech, or rhetoric.
Experience teaching college communication at all levels.
Coursework in college teaching.
