TIG Welder 2nd Shift (TEMP-TO-HIRE)

Schedule: M-F 2:30pm-11pm

Pay Rate: $21+ (shift diff)

Department: Shielding Manufacturing

Job Functions:

  • Understand brass and galvanized brass. Some stainless steel. Working with 16-gauge sheet metal.

  • Inspect, measure or test completed metal work pieces to ensure conformation to specifications, using metal and testing devices.

  • Assemble, align and clamp work pieces into holding fixtures to bond, heat-treat, or solder fabricated metal components. Correct problems by adjusting controls or by stopping machines and opening holding devices.

  • Layout, fit, or connect parts to be bonded, calculating production measurements as necessary.

  • Mark weld points and positions of components on work pieces using rulers, squares, templates or scribes.

  • Prepare metal surfaces or work pieces.

  • Select torch tips, alloys, flux, coil, tubing or wire, according to metal types or thickness, data charts, or records.

  • Set dials and timing controls to regulate electrical current, gas flow pressure, heating or cooling cycles, or shut-off. Observe meters, gauges or machine operations to ensure that soldering or brazing processes meets standards.

Physical Demands:

  • Standing majority of time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.

  • 1-2 years of TIG welding, MIG welding, brazing, and soldering experience meeting superior aesthetic, cosmetic, and high-quality standards.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Trade School training.

  • TIG/MIG Certification.

Other Demands:

  • Knowledge of: MIG, TIG, soldering, and brazing, brass, stainless steel.

Ability To:

  • Read blueprints, work orders, or production schedules to determine product or job instructions or specifications.

  • Use basic hand tools: grinders, sanders, chipping hammer, etc.

  • Ability to read and use a tape measure.

  • Ability to prioritize workflow to meet daily production goals.

  • Clean, lubricate, maintain, and adjust equipment to maintain efficient operation, using air hoses, cleaning fluids, and hand tools.

  • Grinds seam welds for smoothness, ensuring no cracks bleed through, to ensure work piece meets quality standards.

  • Compute and record settings for new work, applying knowledge of metal properties, principle of welding and shop mathematics.

  • Conduct trial runs before welding, soldering, or brazing and make necessary adjustments to equipment.

  • Perform daily maintenance on machines, and stocks inventory cabinets for work supplies.

  • Design application for new products.

  • Follow safety rules and procedures.

  • Wear PPE as necessary.

  • Do work assigned by supervisor.

  • Work in team environment, be quality conscious and strive for continuous quality improvement with emphasis on Lean and 5s principles.

Pay Details: $21.00 per hour
