Employment Horizons is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting people with barriers to employment in achieving their individual vocational objectives and establishing self-sufficiency in the community. Position Overview:We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Small Engine Mechanic to join our team. This full-time role is responsible for maintaining and repairing groundskeeping and cleaning equipment, as well as conducting regular inspections and maintenance of the Employment Horizons vehicle fleet. The ideal candidate will have mechanical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently to ensure all equipment and vehicles remain in optimal working condition. This position is temporary. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Key Responsibilities:Diagnose and repair small engines and power equipment, including lawnmowers, blowers, and vacuums.Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on groundskeeping and cleaning equipment to ensure proper functionality.Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on the Employment Horizons vehicle fleet, including oil changes, brake checks, tire rotations, and fluid top-offs.Identify and address mechanical issues in vehicles and equipment in a timely manner.Keep detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and parts used.Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized workspace.Communicate effectively with supervisors and staff regarding equipment and vehicle status.Stay up to date with industry advancements and best practices. Preferred Qualifications:Certifications in small engine repair or automotive maintenance. Physical Demands & Work Environment:The work environment includes indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to noise, dust, fuel fumes, and mechanical hazards. The position involves frequent movement, including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working with hand and power tools. Required to talk or hear in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to work independently and maintain attention to detail. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate; however, there are occasional loud sounds.
