Executive Director, Community and Workforce Development

 

Job Description:

The Executive Director of Community and Workforce Development is responsible for providing vision and direction for university adult and professional education programs that respond to workforce needs and support regional development strategies. This role involves developing professional education partnerships with regional employers, industries, professional associations, community organizations, and education institutions for creating clear academic pathways that lead to credential completion, jobs, and degrees. The Executive Director guides the SUU Leadership Institute and its associated transformational leadership programs, administrators, and events.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Strategically engage with external partners to support the university's community and workforce development initiatives. Align with government, corporate, industry, and non-profit organizations to develop responsive professional education collaborations to meet workforce needs.

• Renew and maintain an overarching strategic plan focusing on achieving departmental goals and continuous modernization and streamlining of processes. Set and oversee department budget, financial strategy, revenue goals, and marketing efforts. Ensure effective marketing of courses and programs. Lead, manage, and develop department personnel.

• Direct the SUU Leadership Institute Academy transformational leadership programs, curricula, administrators, and events. Deliver leadership workshops and presentations. Contribute to SUULI theoretical framework.

• Oversee the department's campus collaborations to create synergistic partnerships for innovating adult learning strategies and programs that contribute to student enrollment. Maintain regular and consistent communication with campus deans.

• Lead initiatives for new business and industry development, creating new revenue and enrollment pipelines by cultivating relationships, and leading efforts to secure department contracts and grants. Work in consultation and partnership with the grants office and oversee timely generation of grant applications and reports.

• Maintain current knowledge of trends and practices in the field through peer association, attendance at seminars and conferences, and review of literature for the purpose of assessing and modernizing SUU's adult and professional education offerings

• Other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Master's degree in management, education, or a related field Preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Five to ten years of experience in management, leadership, or business development.

• Experience working with strategic planning processes.

• Demonstrate knowledge of transformational leadership principles.

• Demonstrate systems thinking, entrepreneurial thinking, and aptitude for collaboration.

• Demonstrate ability to work effectively with university faculty and staff, as well as a wide variety of public and private entities, to reach business agreements.

• Budget oversight and grant management experience.
