How you'll help us connect the world

Working teammate of a functional tool room. Participates in the Root Cause Corrective Action process when necessary. Develop and execute the daily production schedule including assigning work, rotating employees as necessary and work prioritization. Plans, lays out, constructs, or repairs highly intricate dies, molds, or tools. Makes intricate tools for producing specific shapes or removing material. Works to extremely close tolerances where construction of tools requires mating surfaces, usually less than .0005 inches. Responsible for planning, laying out and following the job through to completion with a minimum of supervision; completing jobs within general tolerances of metal trades industry in relation to quality and time.

Work Hours and Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts (4 days)

Responsibilities: (but not limited to)

Plan, lay out and perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter and repair tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, etc. where a high degree of skill and an extensive knowledge of tooling practice and application is required. Work from complicated drawings and specifications, use a wide variety of precision instruments for exacting measurements. Perform difficult machining operations requiring complicated set-ups involving the improvising of tooling and machines for adaptations beyond the normal range and capacities of available equipment. Perform close and exacting bench and assembly operations to fit, align, calibrate, adjust, assemble and finish work. May do development and experimental work, select allowances and materials, and proceed from own conception in absence of design and specifications. Will assign work and instruct other tool room personnel. Serve as lead on projects, working closely with designers and engineers. Establishes and maintains an effective preventative maintenance program. Participates in ongoing Continuous Improvement processes. Serve as backup support in the absence of the supervisor/manager.

Other general facilities and project duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

High School Diploma/GED

  • Experience with CAD/CAM type software, preferably Esprit.

  • Experience as a CNC Machinist operating a 3 and 4 axis mill or lathe.

  • Tool and Die experience.

  • Wire and Sinker EDM experience.

it is a plus if you have

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of experience & education.

  • Associate's Degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Systems or related fields

Or

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics and or Electrical Engineering Technologies
