Douglas County Government Senior System Administrator Web Technologies in Castle Rock, Colorado

In partnership with the Communications and Public Affairs department the Information Technology Senior Systems Administrator - Web Technologies proactively manages the delivery of services related to the Douglas County Internet, Intranet, and Extranet environments in a cost effective and reliable manner and has primary responsibility for multiple overarching technologies or service management disciplines. This position works under general direction from an Information Technology Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.)

Maintain, operate, and plan the enterprise technical systems including, Content Management Systems (CMS), and MS365 Intranet technologies including data access security. Utilize your expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP to create and maintain high-quality, responsive WordPress websites that offer seamless user experiences. In partnership with the Communications and Public Affairs department and our website partner develop theme-based WordPress pages, building and customizing themes to meet project specifications and design requirements. Implement and maintain web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) to ensure that all websites are accessible to a diverse range of users, including those with disabilities. Work closely with the product team and designers to translate mockups into functional and aesthetically pleasing webpages, ensuring that all design elements are accurately implemented and optimized for web use. Formulating and communicating functional and technical designs. Aid in troubleshooting escalated issues related to the County's Internet and Intranet environments. Manage managed service providers and hosting partners. Gather requirements from stakeholders and work with hosting partner to test and implement new functionality. Answer website support queries from our Content Editor Network. In partnership with the Communications and Public Affairs department and our website partner develop and maintain continuous training of our Content Editor Network. Troubleshoot and fix websites issues as it relates to infrastructure or functionality. Maintain local and nation-wide SEO programs and activities. Drive and implement Intranet and Extranet strategies and best practices. Develops and maintains a metric based continuous improvement program to continually drive citizen value through metric-based decision making. Manages WordPress roles and user access. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

An associate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a closely related field required or training and/or certifications in principle technologies required. Sufficient experience or certifications, especially in managing complex, Internet and Intranet environments, may be substituted for degree requirement. Five (5) years progressive experience in Systems Administration of Content Management Systems "CMS", and Intranet technologies required. Proven working experience as a Web systems administrator of WordPress Content Management Systems. Experience developing custom WordPress content blocks and Custom Post types. WordPress site architecture; experience customizing WordPress (building and managing custom themes, plugins, custom integrations). Experience working with application proxies and firewalls such as Cloud Flare. Experience with Search Engine Optimization, "SEO" concepts and techniques. Experience mentoring/developing staff. Experience in developing accessible websites (WCAG 2.1 AA) and knowledge of web accessibility best practices. Experience working with designers to translate mockups into functional webpages. Experience with google analytics and other website focused analytic tools.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's Lice se upon hire, with complying insurance. Review of motor vehicle record is required at time of hire and periodically throughout employment. This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.
