Controls Engineer (Mid/ Senior Level)

Job Responsibilities

We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Controls Engineer (Mid/ Senior Level) at our Raleigh, NC facility. In this exciting role within our Process & Manufacturing Controls team, you’ll be designing, programming, and servicing automated controls systems for a major food and beverage client in Cary, NC. Responsibilities will include the design and programming of a variety of industrial process control systems that integrate new and existing hardware and software. You’ll also be tasked with maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the client’s control systems as needed, as well as programming PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, Servos, and VFDs. Additionally, you will be integrating automated lines for the client’s production processes. You’ll also support sales by providing estimates, controls hardware costs, and labor hours for potential projects.

Must-Have Skills

• 5+ years of experience in controls & automation.

• Rockwell PLC experience.

• Experience in documentation & system integration.

Hard Skills

• Programming PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, Servos, and VFDs.

• Troubleshooting and repairing control systems.

• Estimating controls hardware costs and labor hours.

Soft Skills

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.

• Willingness to travel to local client sites.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

The workweek is M-F, 9-5, totaling 40 hours per week. Anything over that is booked as overtime. Our focus will mainly be supporting our largest client, but we are growing in the Raleigh area. This year we have four big projects outside of our main client. In the long term, we need someone willing and open to travel to local client sites in the Raleigh area. You’ll be involved in upgrades to existing systems, new packaging lines, and conveyor systems, and general plant support. You must have the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
